Interview on Swiss-Italian Immigration

Researching Swiss-Italian immigration for Miners, Milkers & Merchants has taken me to the places the immigrant brothers settled.  I visited Daylesford and the Australian Gold Country in Victoria to see the places where the immigrants lived and worked one hundred years earlier. I traveled to the Vallemaggia in Ticino to visit their homeland in the Alps.

Through family connections with the Lafranchi family in Marin, I met Gabrielle and Patrizia Maccarinelli of Maggia, who were making a documentary of their family members’ immigration from Maggia to California. This interview is an excerpt from their documentary, which can be found at A Suitcase Full of Dreams.
